Rochester and Webster, NY are two neighboring communities in Monroe County, New York. Rochester, known as The Flower City and The World’s Image Center, is the third-largest city in the state of New York, after New York City and Buffalo. The historic Erie Canal also runs along the city’s borders. It has a population of about 210,000 residents. The city is named after founder Colonel Nathaniel Rochester. Webster is a suburban town in Western New York and is located on Lake Ontario. It has a population of around 28,385 residents and is named after the statesman Daniel Webster. Industries

Rochester is called the World’s Image Center because of Kodak. Kodak is based in Rochester and was founded by George Eastman. Many famous Hollywood stars have resided in the city, including actors Cary Grant and Marion Davies and architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The George Eastman Museum is located in Rochester and is the oldest museum dedicated to photography. Kodak has a very interesting history and was founded by George Eastman in 1888. Initially, Eastman started off manufacturing dry plates for photography but later moved on to film rolls, photographic plates, cameras, and eventually the first digital camera.

Webster is home to several malls including The Marketplace Mall and The Shops at Webster Place. As the name suggests, The Marketplace Mall is themed after an outdoor marketplace with shops and cafes arranged in a walkable market-style layout. It has over 150 stores and restaurants to choose from. The Shops at Webster Place have a lot of entertainment options like Dave & Busters, Macaroni Grill, Cheesecake Factory, and AMC Theatres. It also has many dining options including restaurants like Bonefish Grill and Panera Bread.

Places of Visit

The two communities make a great pair to go on a day trip as there are lots of activities to explore. One can visit the Strong National Museum of Play which was opened in December 1990. This museum is the largest museum of toys and games in the country. It has thousands of historic dolls, board games, arcade video games and other exhibits to keep you busy for a few hours. The National Museum of Play is located at One Manhattan Square in Rochester NY.

For the best food in town, check out The Public Market. It has vendors selling fresh food imported from all over the world like French crepes, Indian curries, and Dutch stroopwafels. There is an artist market on Saturdays with a diverse selection of contemporary crafts. The Public Market is located at 280 North Union Street in Rochester NY.

Fish Fries are popular in Buffalo and Rochester. In Rochester, the Rundel Memorial Building holds a 24-hour fish fry on Fridays during Lent season to raise funds for the Volunteer Emergency Service Corps of Rochester NY

Rochester and Webster are two great places to visit and make a day trip from Buffalo or any other city in Western New York. They have lots of entertainment options and great food.
